By mwilcox

This wonderful piece is by Charles Albert Lebourg, a French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist landscape painter of the Rouen School (l'École de Rouen). He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français, and most noted for his landscapes, creating more than 2,000 of them during his his working life. The artist was represented by several noted Art Dealers of the period, such as Galerie Mancini in Paris in 1896, in 1899 and 1910 by Galerie Bernheim-Jeune, 1903 and 1906 at the Galerie Paul Rosenberg, and 1918 and 1923 at Galerie Georges Petit.

As a general rule oil paintings really require a physical appraisal by a Fine Arts Appraiser to determine authenticity as the work of most well known artists have been extensively reproduced since the 1970's. In the current market the majority of oil paintings by this Artist trade hands at Fine Arts Auctions, with most comparable examples selling in the $2000.00- $4000.00 range.
